Privacy Policy
Last updated 30 July 2026 · Applies to the Shree Navkar Parivar mobile application, formerly called Navkar Group (iOS and Android), and this website.
Shree Navkar Parivar is a religious and charitable trust in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India (Reg. No. 1273). We run the Shree Navkar Parivar app for our own members. This policy explains what the app records about you, why, who else can see it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
We do not sell your information, we do not run advertising, and we do not share the directory with anyone outside the parivar.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Shree Navkar Parivar (“we”, “the trust”, “the samiti”) is the data fiduciary for the information described here. You can reach us using the details in section 11.
2. What we collect
Information you give us when you join
Membership is by application, and the samiti reviews every request. When you register you provide:
- Identity and contact — your name (and optionally your name in Hindi), mobile number, email address, WhatsApp number, city and area.
- Profile — date of birth, gender, profession or business type, a short biography, a profile photograph, your preferred language, and a member category.
- Community — your shakha, gotra, membership date, and marriage anniversary.
- Family — family type, number of family members, and the names, relationship, gender and dates of birth of family members you choose to add.
- Business — business name, address and description, if you list one in the business directory.
- Emergency contact — a name and phone number, if you provide one.
- Interests — the kinds of sewa you would like to offer, and dharmik accomplishments you choose to record.
- Social handles — Facebook, Instagram and X, if you add them.
Most of these are optional. The fields required to create an account are your name, mobile number and gender; the rest you can leave blank or fill in later.
Information created as you use the app
- Your RSVP to an event, and your check-in when you scan an event QR code.
- Donations you record or make, including the amount, the drive, the method, and — for online payments — the payment and order reference returned by our payment gateway.
- Applications you submit for sewa opportunities.
- Photographs you upload to an event gallery, with any caption you add.
- Notifications generated for you inside the app.
Information collected automatically
- A session token, stored on your device, that keeps you signed in.
- A push notification token from Apple or Google (by way of Expo), if you allow notifications. It identifies your device, not you.
- A one-time password record while you sign in — a hash of the code, never the code itself, deleted as soon as it is used or expires.
We do not collect your location, your contacts, your photo library beyond the images you deliberately pick, your device identifiers for advertising, or any behavioural analytics. The app contains no advertising SDK and no third-party tracker.
3. Why we use it
| Purpose | What it uses |
|---|---|
| Signing you in | Mobile number, one-time password, session token |
| Reviewing your membership | Everything in your application — seen by the samiti |
| The member directory | Your profile, subject to your privacy settings (section 4) |
| Events, sewa and the tithi calendar | RSVPs, check-ins, applications, language preference |
| Donations and receipts | Amount, drive, method, payment reference, your name |
| Reminders and announcements | Push token, language preference |
| Keeping the parivar's records | Aggregate totals the samiti reports each month |
Under Indian law we rely on your consent, given when you submit your application and when you choose to fill in each optional field.
4. Who can see your information
Other members
The directory is visible only to members the samiti has approved. It is not published on the internet, is not indexed by search engines, and is not available to anyone browsing without an approved member account. Within it, you control what is shown. Your profile has individual switches for your phone number, email address, date of birth, area, gotra, marriage anniversary, family details, business details and social handles. Turn one off and other members stop seeing it. You can change these at any time from your profile.
The samiti
Administrators can see member records in order to review applications, approve photographs, manage events and drives, and produce the trust's monthly accounts.
Service providers
We use a small number of companies to run the app. They process data on our instructions only.
| Who | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 2Factor.in (India) | Your mobile number and the one-time password | To send the sign-in SMS |
| Razorpay (India) | Payment details you enter at checkout, the amount, and contact details you give them | To process online donations. Card and bank details go to Razorpay directly — we never see or store them. We keep only their order and payment reference. |
| Cloudflare R2 | Profile and event photographs | To store images |
| Expo / Apple / Google | Your push notification token | To deliver notifications |
Our own database and application server are operated by the trust on a private server; the database is not exposed to the internet.
Nobody else
We do not sell, rent or trade your information. We share it outside the parivar only if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
5. Donations and payments
Donating to the trust's charitable drives is entirely voluntary and unlocks nothing — every feature of the app is available to every approved member whether or not they ever give. On iPhone and iPad, donations are not collected in the app at all: the app opens our website in your browser and the donation is made there. On Android and on the website, donations are processed by Razorpay. Donation totals and donor counts for each drive are visible to members; the samiti exports a full record each month for the trust's accounts.
6. How long we keep it
- Your profile — while you are a member, and until you ask us to delete it.
- One-time passwords — deleted the moment they are used or expire.
- Donation records — retained as long as the trust's accounting and tax obligations require, even after an account is closed. These are the trust's financial records.
- Photographs — until removed by you or an administrator.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Show you what we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong — most of it you can edit yourself in the app.
- Delete your account and profile — you can do this yourself from inside the app, under Profile → Delete my account. We remove your directory entry, profile, family details, preferences, RSVPs and any business listing. Donation records are kept as described above, detached from you. See Delete Your Account for the full detail.
- Withdraw consent for an optional field, by clearing it or switching off its visibility.
- Stop notifications, from your device's settings.
Write to us at the address in section 11 and we will respond within 30 days.
8. Security
Sign-in is by one-time password, so there is no password to be stolen or reused. Traffic between the app and our server is encrypted with HTTPS. Session tokens are stored in your device's secure storage. Access to member records is limited to administrators the samiti appoints. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
The app is intended for adult members of the parivar. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 18. Family members you add — including children — are entries in your own family record, not accounts, and are covered by your family privacy setting. If you believe a child has registered independently, contact us and we will remove the account.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and, for anything significant, tell members in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
